well. ahem.

as you can see i am back. after a prolonged absence. whoops! many apologies to all my readers. *crickets* what? i have no readers?! haha.

life has been good. i'm still on the weight watchers wagon. i'm down 60lbs! i'm at 188 today.

wedding is in 4 weeks, super crazy excited for that. i achieved my goal, be back to the "old me" for the wedding.

not sure what i want to do with this blog space but i feel inspired to blog about _something_. i really have a long list of adored blogs i read religiously and i want to give back to that community. i rely on those people almost more than my real life friends! they give me product reviews, weight loss tips, fitness motivation and just a peek into someone else's day to day life.

so watch this space. i hope to be here a little more often.

Nearly There!

Monday mornings are my weigh in days, and on Weight Watchers you weigh in once a week. This morning I'm down 2lbs! Total lost so far: 22.5lbs. I'm only 2.5lbs away from reaching my 10% goal! There are so many benefits from losing even 10% of your body weight if you're overweight, here they are:
  • Increased energy level
  • Lower your cholesterol levels
  • Reduce your blood pressure
  • Reduced aches and pains
  • Improved mobility
  • Improve your breathing
  • Help you sleep better and wake more rested
  • Prevention of angina, chest pain caused by decreased oxygen to the heart
  • Decreases your risk of sudden death from heart disease or stroke
  • Prevention of Type 2 diabetes
  • Improved blood sugar levels
How amazing is that! I'm well on my way to experiencing those benefits, and I feel great. I need to decide on a reward for when I do reach that goal. This is the first time I will re-achieve losing 10% since initally losing all this weight back in 2004 (and subsequently gaining it all back in 2008). I've attempted to recommit to WW numerous times in the past two years but never stuck with it longer than 5 weeks. I'm now at week 10!

Onwards and downwards, as they say.

Absence!

Sorry! I've been absent. I'm not good at this blogging thing. I'm in awe of all the amazing bloggers I follow that have daily, sometimes multiple times a day, entries! And not just jibber jabber either, actual substance in their posts!

No, I have not started the two hundred squat challenge and I'm not sure I will. After thinking about it more, I do squat sets at the gym with my trainer three times a week. I don't think I need to add three extra days! I'm confident in my squat, and will eventually be able to do two hundred I'm sure. I'll keep testing myself and keep you all updated.

I'm thinking of tracking my weight loss progress in this blog. Like I mentioned earlier I follow a lot of blogs and eagerly await their updates. A number of them are weight loss blogs, which I gain a lot of motivation from. It would be nice if I could give back to someone out there, even just one single person who stumbles across my space one day. My journey is already well under way but it's never to late to start. Stay tuned for that in the future!

Until next time, which hopefully will be sooner than 3 weeks from now!

How Many Can You Do?

I came across an interesting fitness challenge on the web called Two Hundred Squats. All you need is thirty minutes a week to follow the program. 3 days a week you follow a schedule of squat sets and the idea is that you are strong enough at the end of six weeks that you can perform two hundred squats in a row. There is an initial test you must perform to gauge your current fitness level, simply do as many squats as you can. I jump off the couch, get into position, and...GO! I did 56. Not bad I thought. My heart rate is definitely raised, I can feel my legs burning. I pick up the laptop to see where I placed. Apparently I'm excellent! Anything over 49 is considered excellent, and I'm supposed to start the program at week 3. Awesome! Who knew! All those squats my trainer makes me do are actually paying off!

I'm definitely intrigued. I think I'll take the challenge. Squats are such an easy, do anywhere type of exercise with so many basic fitness benefits. I'll post my results here. There is even an iPhone app!

Try it for yourself! And let me know how it goes!

Stay Tuned...

Something coming to this space soon!

I'm trying to come up with ideas for what I want my blog to be. I've been perusing a TON of other people's blogs and getting a little discouraged! There are some seriously amazing blog writers out there! How can I ever achieve such greatness?!

Anyways, I think I have an idea. I'm going to try to execute it this week but my schedule is a little busy. Perhaps early next week I'll organize myself and get to work. So please keep coming back! I promise to try my hardest to grow this space into one you want to visit on a regular basis!

Welcome to my Blogosphere.

I've decided to start a blog. 140 characters or less on twitter isn't enough some (most) days, so instead of flooding my friends twitter feeds with useless chatter I now have my very own unlimited characters space. Not sure what I'll end up writing about, but I hope it's an interesting outlet! Read on at your own risk...
